The Army ROTC’s Green to Gold program helped cadet Elijah Harter leave Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to finish his bachelor’s degree at IU Indianapolis and work towards active duty commission. Using the post-9/11 GI bill to pay for his education, cadet Harter also earned the SerVaas scholarship in the Department of Military Science, which helps with personal expenses. ROTC has taught him the importance of focusing on his studies and staying in good physical shape—two areas in which the Army expects cadets to excel.
“The ROTC program has pushed me to be better physically and mentally,” says Harter. “My time management skills have been tested and have improved, and the program continues to set me up for success in the U.S. Army.”
