Brandon Lapehn, MAJ, began his military career in 2005 enlisting into the Indiana Army National Guard as a 13B cannon crewmember. Upon completion of basic training, he joined the Indiana University Army ROTC program and commissioned 2LT branching Field Artillery in 2008. In 2009, Lapehn deployed to OEF IX-X in Kandahar Province of Afghanistan as a PL and FDO. Upon completion of Captains Career Course, he was re-assigned to Fort Campbell, KY where he served as a A/BDE FSO, SQN FSO, and BTRY Commander. He deployed to Khost Province, Afghanistan for OEF XIII-XIV.
Lapehn was re-assigned to Purdue University Army ROTC as an assistant professor of military science. Upon completion of the Command and General Staff College, Lapehn was assigned to Fort Hood, TX where he served as a BDE FSO, BN XO and a DIVARTY S3. MAJ Lapehn served at Camp Atterbury, IN as the XO for the 2-307 FA. Lapehn assumed duties as the professor of military science for the Capital Warrior Battalion in August of 2023.
Lapehn's military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Meritorious Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Parachutist’s Badge.
